Harlem Arts Festival will be holding its fourth annual gala on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at MIST Harlem on 116th Street between Lenox and Fifth Avenue. Dr. Brenda Greene, the Executive Director of the Center for Black Literature will receive the 2015 Lynnette Velasco Community Impact Award at the annual gala.
Dr. Greene will be this year’s sole recipient of the Lynnette Velasco Community Impact award; which was first introduced at last year’s gala and awarded to Linda Walton of the Harlem Arts Alliance and the late musician and social activist Fred Ho.
This annual fundraising event is an opportunity for the organization to raise both money and awareness about the talent that will hit the festival’s stage in June and to support ongoing arts programming throughout the calendar year.
Gala attendees will receive the first announcement of 2015 HAF artists and will be treated to a festival preview performance by three 2015 artists: Samora Pinderhughes, Farrah Boule and Alia Kache.
