Harlem’s Cantina Taqueria & Tequila Bar moves over one avenue

From the picture below, looks like one of our reader’s comment on a May 13th blog post is absolutely true that Cantina on Adam Clayton Powell Blvd is moving over one avenue to Frederick Douglass Blvd! Congrats to Cantina Taqueria & Tequila Bar.

While I’m sure they are (and were) doing good business on ACP, as well as Lenox Avenue, moving to Harlem’s restaurant row will more than likely take their biz up a notch or two! There’s a lot of foot traffic on FDB. Plus their presence adds to the variety of food choices on this busy avenue.

Looking forward to visiting soon and ordering some tacos from Cantina at 2099 Frederick Douglass Blvd!

Whole Foods Market opening in Harlem July 21, 125th & Lenox Avenue

My kids and I were at Harlem Eat Up today. While strolling around, literally in our Bugaboo, we learned today that Whole Foods Market is opening up their Harlem store July 21, 2017. The two nice gentlemen working their booth informed us when we asked. However, there was no need to ask. There was a sign to the left of them that announced the date! See pic below.

I wonder whose going to check out the new Whole Foods uptown when it opens? I’m curious to see if they plan on offering the same kind of merchandise/products as a downtown store. We will soon find out!

The store will be located at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue! Right there by the 2/3 subway line!

From Harlem to LES, New York City iconic places, like mom and pop shops, disappearing

Two New York City photographers have been documenting the City’s transformation for several years. It started with a book, titled “Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York,” in which they photographed mom-and-pop stores around the city, including select parts of Harlem, such as Lenox Avenue and 125th Street. They recently returned to these Harlem locations, and all the other original locations as well, to see what stands in those places now. Take a look below at the Harlem areas documented and see what’s happened.
