Rumor has it that the antithesis of Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, is working hard to have a presence in Harlem, specifically central Harlem so that they can compete with that Texas-based grocery chain. A real estate broker(s) has informed this blog that Trader Joe’s, the California-based food chain, is moving into the entire retail space offered at the swanky Circa Central Park building in Harlem!
You know which building I’m talking about! It’s the space of a former gas station and the one selling an apartment for more than $8million dollars at the corner of West 110th Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd!
Yup, apparently the developers, which got Starbucks to move into their other building on Manhatten Avenue and 110th Street, are or close to sealing the deal with Trader Joe’s to move into Circa Central Park in Harlem.
Hmm, there is another grocery store directly across from that new building. It’s called Central Market.
Let’s see what happens! Stay tuned! And of course, I’d love to hear what you think about Trader Joe’s moving into Harlem at this location? Digame (Talk to me)!
That would be insane!! Please keep us posted!
Oooooh…..yes please!
My life will be changed if TJ’s comes to Harlem. Please Gawddddd let them come!
no, thanks. too much traffic and will change the peacefulness of the area. just replace the old supermarket.
I hope trader joes comes to this bldg.
I’d love a proper supermarket, but Trader Joe’S? Ugh.
That would be the greatest thing to happen to SoHa in a long time.
It’s NOT SoHa
Heard there will be a supermarket in a new bldg currently under construction on FDB. Trader Joe’s? Rent would probably be too expensive at Circa.
Crossing my fingers!
TJ is coming? Ah, love is in the air!
OMG, a Trader Joe’s at that location would be awesome! Although I was hoping it would be on Lenox (walking distance to our apartment), we will take what we can get. Trader Joe’s is the best shopping ever!!
YES! YES! PLEASE!
Any updates?!?!?!
Hooray! But, Harlem can accommodate more than 0ne Trader Joe’s. There’s already an available, vacant retail space in the new / old building on the NW corner of 125th & Park, next door to the Metro North Railroad station, in front of the busy bust stop t that corner, for multiple busses. The new Whole Foods 3 blocks away at 125 & Lenox, is raking in the business since it opened in July.
