In June, we posted about how we saw early signs of new construction starting, i.e. the big drill. Well, it looks like it’s official. At 2080 Frederick Douglass Blvd, between 112th and 113th Streets, the permit signs are up and stapled to the plywood! If it’s condos they are building here, it’s a great location in my view.  This lot is two two blocks away from Central Park North and one block from Morningside Heights Park.  Can’t get more green than that – unless they green the roof in the final construction.

Harlem lots are becoming a thing of the past!

With the temperatures continuing to dip at all time lows in New York City, what are Harlemites to do this coming holiday weekend? Well, if you feel like putting on some blades and going round and round in circles on ice, we have the perfect recommendation for you – Trump Lasker Rink in Central Harlem!  That’s  right! Harlem has their very own outdoor ice skating rink.

Take the 2/3 subway line to 110th Street and you are a few yards away or drive if you like. But this place is a winter wonderland without all the touristy fuss. When we visited the rink recently, the ticket lines were somewhat long to get in, however when you’re in the rink there is plenty of elbow space to move around on and off the ice.  Also, if you want to take a rest from skating, you can do what we did…watch the miniature hockey players battle it out in the ice rink next door. Who needs to go to New Jersey to see the Devils. From our pictures here, we clearly have our own Devils to watch and root for in Harlem. Oh and the parents watching their kids…they’re fun to watch too! See you there!

Adam Clayton Powell Corner Bldg getting a makeover?

I was walking toward the 2/3 subway line along Central Park North recently and saw that the corner building on Central Park North and Adam Clayton Powell had brand new windows installed and what also appeared to be new air conditioning units.  There is scaffolding around and ton of permits on the door. Those are clear signs of a makeover and the building looks vacant! Does anyone know the scoop?

For those that don’t know this Harlem area or do, this spot is absolutely a primo location-in my view. It’s a well-sized corner building right across the street from our famous Central Park. The building has to have some decent park views. Well…whatever is going on there, HarlemGal wishes she had a small fortune, some extra dinero, etc. I would totally go shopping there for another Harlem casita! If you know what’s going on, tell us!
