Does anyone remember this Harlem space on Frederick Douglass Blvd between 115 and 116th Street? It used to be a place of worship, a mosque. Now there are signs up on the scaffold that says the space is being turned into luxury rentals! Great, right?
This space probably would have been more ideal for affordable housing since it’s right in the thick of where all the change is happening. Is anyone surprised? Probably not.
How many luxury this and that do we need for this area? Oh I forgot, I’m in New York! There’s no such thing as affordable housing!
Have a great weekend!
WHITEY AND THE NEGROES WHO FOLLOW UP BEHIND THEM ARE PUSHING AND DESTROYING HARLEM AND WE ARE ALLOWING IT BY NOT
PUSHING BACK! AND GETTING INVOLVED. THE NEW CONGRESSMAN IN MY HARLEM IS A PIECE OF SHIT AGAIN OUR FAULT THOSE WHO RAN WITH KEITH WRIGHT SPLIT THE HARLEM VOTE MOST WERE PAID TO DO SO… PAY ATTENTION BLACK FOLKS OF THE REAL HARLEM THEY WANT US TO TURN DOWN THE SOUND IN CHURCHES YEP!
Black people were too stupid and didn’t buy the property when it was dirt cheap. If blacks would pull up their pants, stop committing crimes (objective statistics show blacks OVERWHELMINGLY commit the crimes in America, as a proportional percentage of the population), stop hanging out on the block until 2 am and instead went to the library and read books, maybe they’d learn and grow up.
Most nyc luxury apartments now include the affordable housing units no matter what neighborhood. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/08/11/opinion/mayor-de-blasios-plan-for-affordable-housing.html
Believe it or not there are “whiteys” that also are in need of affordable housing. The level of racist name calling makes me sick and so so sad for the innocent youth of all races who are learning from the adults. Enough already.
the sign about luxury rentals seems to refer to an address on madison avenue, not at the current location…unless you have seen other signs?
Most luxury buildings take part in this program. If you go into the hpd site you can apply to all of these buildings that are part of the program. For the most part the management of the building do partake in this program and most likely this one will also. It’s worth checking out and as a single low income mom I was able to get into one a few years ago. Let’s try and stay positive with so much negativity going on in our country and abroad.

Once you register you will be sent emails with new listings. Agreed out city is outrageously expensive but just pointing out some of the positives.
Hi I think you should said that you forgot to say that we are in Harlem USA Black Mecca Cultural ,heritage, exchanges, Capital of the world , Affordable housing, Apt rental, market, life living and now….? Not only this mosque also a church on132 street uptown side went into luxury living. One by one wowww
Subsidized housing is a crime against humanity. These residents living in NYCHA and other subsidized housing have their bills paid for by responsible citizens. It is an crime that money is taken out of the pockets of the successful to pay the bills of the failures. And it is wrong to take money you did not earn through your labor.
If you can’t pay market rate you don’t deserve to live in the unit. Housing is a commodity like any other.
If you take subsidies in the form of discounted housing, EITC, health insurance, you are complicit in this criminal theft.
So on point.
I miss the mosque. I liked seeing the worshippers come and go. Made me feel proud to be a New Yorker and to live in Harlem.
