Seasoned Vegan owners provide another update, construction now underway

We have another update on Seasoned Vegan, the meatless restaurant opening up in Harlem on St. Nicholas Avenue and 113th Street. The owners sent out another update via Kickstarter yesterday!

Looks like construction is starting this month, which means opening day is at least one to two months away. A grand opening block party is planned, which will be a lot of fun. Overall, the good news to focus on is that Seasoned Vegan is moving forward and Central Harlem will soon have a full service vegan dining option soon. Check out the complete update below.

On a separate note, look out for an update on The Park Wine Bar, now called The Park 112, on FDB and 113th Street. HarlemGal Inc has the lowdown! Stay tuned!

Harlem’s Seasoned Vegan aiming to open by April, menu available online

20130305-111806.jpg
Did anyone notice that Seasoned Vegan in Harlem did not open in February? They were hoping to open Feb. 23, but couldn’t cause they’re still waiting on a few more permits to be cleared. Not surprised. This kind of stuff happens all the time with new restaurants. From what I hear Seasoned Vegan, which will be on the corner of St. Nicholas Ave and West 113th Street (55 St Nicholas Avenue), plans to open by April. That’s not that far away!

In the mean time, Seasoned Vegan does have their website up and running. Check it out. They have their menu on display as well so that when they do open, we will be ready and will know what to order.

Don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to the opening of Seasoned Vegan in Harlem! Stay tuned!

Seasoned Vegan signs lease at 55 St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem, aims to open January 2013

The owners of Seasoned Vegan recently notified their KickStarter backers via email that “after much hard work, preparation and long anticipation” they have signed a lease for restaurant space at 55 St. Nicholas Avenue, right at the corner of 113th Street. The note states they “used the money from KickStarter for the down payment… and that they plan to open at their new location in Harlem in January 2013.”

Congrats to Brenda and Aaron. As always, looking forward to another dining option in Harlem.

Let’s help kickstart Seasoned Vegan in Harlem

Who was inspired by the recent  New York Daily News article about The Beeners and their effort to open Harlem’s first full-service, vegan soul food restaurant? I certainly was! According to the article, Chef Brenda Beener and her son Aaron (mother and son), plan to open their vegan restaurant in August on Frederick Douglass Blvd. near 116th St., which is also known as Harlem’s restaurant row. But before they can open their establishment there is some major financing they must have in place, around $250k. The Beeners have turned to Kickstarter.com (and to us) to help them reach that sum.

There are various donation levels on their Kickstarter page from $5 to $500. If you are interested in helping Seasoned Vegan in Harlem become a reality, make your donation here.
