Food and Drink Boulevard in Harlem happening May 10

2017 Food & Drink Blvd Promo Image for PressTomorrow, May 10 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., the Frederick Douglass Boulevard Alliance will hold its sixth annual Food & Drink Boulevard event along Harlem’s Restaurant Row.  This event invites local residents and visitors to explore restaurants and bars along the Frederick Douglass Boulevard from 112th to 124th Streets by reserving a wristband to receive $5.00 deals at 19 participating venues.

To assist patrons in navigating up and down Frederick Douglass Boulevard, FDBA is offering free pedicab service to wristband holders, and a mobile device-friendly map that shows where all 19 participating restaurants and bars are located, as well as each businesses’ $5.00 menu offerings.

To reserve a free wristband for the event, visit the FDBA website at http://www.fdballiance.org. On the night of the event, wristbands will also be available at Harlem Tavern, 2153 Frederick Douglass Boulevard on the corner of West 116th Street, and Angel of Harlem, 2272 Frederick Douglass Boulevard on the corner of West 122nd Street.

Farm-to-table restaurant opens in Harlem, Take the A train to Clay

img_1113Harlem villagers no longer have to turn to downtown to dine at a farm-to-table restaurant. Harlem dining patrons can now experience farm-to-table at Clay, located on the corner of 123rd Street and Manhattan Avenue.

What does farm-to-table mean? According to Clay Restaurant, it means “they source all of their produce, meats and fish from small, local suppliers. Nothing is mass-produced or served out of season. Wines and spirits also come from small producers, both seasoned veterans and ground-breaking upstarts alike, who care about their terrain and couple minimal intervention with maximum innovation.”

The New American restaurant opened up on the Harlem corner six weeks ago and is ready to serve locals (or anyone that walks in) with dinner and brunch on the weekends.

And if you’re curious as to where exactly Clay is sourcing, the list is posted on their website.

Ponty Bistro in Harlem turns two, happy birthday 

Time flies when your making delicious food in Harlem! Ponty Bistro, the Harlem restaurant, helmed by Chef Cisse—a 2009 finalist in the hit Food Network show “Chopped,” turns two this month. 

Stop by Pontry Bistro Harlem located just off Strivers’ Row at 2375 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard at 139th Street and wish them Happy Birthday! While you’re there try some of their signature dishes: Crispy Tuna, Fish Fataya, Truffle Macaroni and Cheese, Le Poulet Yassa, Niokolokoba and Poisson Braise A Le Guet Ndar. 

Brunch on weekends offers Lobster Benedict, French Toast, Scrambled Bruchetta, and much more.

Cedric French Bistro becomes Bunz Harlem

Walking along St. Nick yesterday, I noticed Cedric French Bistro signage was gone. In place of it was a new name called Bunz Harlem! 

I went online to find more info. Apparently, Cedric Lecendre, the owner of former Cedric’s, has changed things up! According to his Facebook page, Lecendre has said cie la vie to offering the French menu at his dining space on 119th and St. Nicholas and will now be offering gourmet burgers and specialty cocktails. Seasoned Vegan in Harlem offering half price smoothies 

Attend a healthy happy hour in Harlem! Seasoned Vegan in Harlem announced today that they are offering all their smoothies this Saturday & Sunday (June 6th and 7th) for half price from 11 am until noon! If you want to drink your greens, check it out!

Vinatería Harlem named one of the Best Italian Restaurants in NYC by The Financial Times

Congrats goes out to Vinatería in Harlem! They were recently named one of the Best Italian Restaurants in New York City by The Financial Times, an international London-based publication. The FT says Vinatería in Harlem “is a spot you can as easily drop into for a flatbread pizza or charcuterie as for a full meal of grilled octopus with rocket and a confit of pimento potatoes or the wonderful tagliatelle with pork ragù and black cabbage.”

What comes after opening Cantina in Harlem? Bungalow Burger and Lounge on Frederick Douglass Blvd, view menus here

If you like the food, service and ambiance at Cantina in Harlem, then you may like the owner of Cantina’s next venture in Harlem? It’s called Bungalow Burger and Lounge and it’s located on 127th and Frederick Douglass Blvd. The new Harlem restaurant, which will offer burgers/sliders, shakes and a juice bar, opens this Thursday, January 9th and HarlemGal Inc has the menus below for your viewing. All items listed on the menus will be available this Thursday, according to the owner.

Bungalow Burger and Lounge is set up into three areas, counter, lounge and dining with the counter and dining located in the upper level and the lounge in the lower level. The counter menu opens at 11:30 am, lounge menu starts at 8 pm and the dining room menu starts at 4 pm.

So if you’re interested in checking out a new Harlem restaurant this week, stop by Bungalow Burger and Lounge on FDB and 127th this Thursday. But first, view the menus below so you can figure out what you want to order!

Lido Harlem offering wine and dinner tastings for upcoming holiday season

The holiday season is upon us, Harlem! Do you have special plans? Lido Italian Restaurant and Bar on 117th Street and Frederick Douglass is offering wine and dinner tastings during the holidays! Interested participants can schedule a wine and tasting event with friends and family or hold a company holiday party at Lido Harlem as well!

Your special event can include history, grapes and other important wine facts. For example, discover why certain foods pair better than others with your wine. Harlem’s first Red Lobster set to open to the public November 11, next to the Apollo Theater

Another chain restaurant is opening in Harlem. Red Lobster has sent out the invites announcing they are having a ribbon-cutting ceremony this coming Monday in honor of its Harlem branch opening to the public on the same day at 11 am. The Harlem Red Lobster is located next to the historic Apollo Theater.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include a performance by the Veterans of the 369th Sargent Association, remarks from Red Lobster executives and local officials, and Artist Alethia Brown’s work will be showcased in the RL lounge commissioned by the Harlem Arts Alliance.
