Made in Brooklyn coffee offered at new Cafe Frederick in Harlem

Walked by the new Cafe Frederick on FDB and 114th this morning and what was outside? Free coffee! The Harlem parlor was giving out free cups of coffee for passerby’s to try. Cafe Frederick will be offering java made in Brooklyn. Stop by and try some. I certainly did!

Frederick Cafe Bistro closes, new coffee shop to open and be named Cafe Frederick

There’s brown butcher paper covering the windows in Harlem of what was Frederick Cafe Bistro at 114th Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd. Why? Because the place is currently being renovated as a new coffee shop. Frederick Cafe Bistro no longer exists. Yup. HarlemGal learned this recently. The owners of bier international, which owned Frederick Cafe Bistro, apparently sold their rights to the commercial space on the Northeast corner of 114th and FDB to new management. We don’t why they did this and we don’t know the name of the new management yet, however what we do know is that these new owners are currently renovating the space as a new coffee shop and it will be called Cafe Frederick.

This is the same space that housed Society Cafe and will now have its third business on this Harlem corner. As more information becomes available on Cafe Frederick, we will pass along.

Congrats goes out to Vinatería in Harlem! They were recently named one of the Best Italian Restaurants in New York City by The Financial Times, an international London-based publication. The FT says Vinatería in Harlem “is a spot you can as easily drop into for a flatbread pizza or charcuterie as for a full meal of grilled octopus with rocket and a confit of pimento potatoes or the wonderful tagliatelle with pork ragù and black cabbage.”

Vinatería is located at 2211 Frederick Douglass Blvd at 119th Street. For reservations, call 212-662-8462.

Custom Fuel Pizza is open to the public in Harlem

I went by Custom Fuel Pizza this afternoon since today is the day it opened in Harlem on 123rd and FDB. I ordered the classic pizza with wheat crust, sausage and garlic cheese. It was yummy.

The place looks great too. The interior is fun and very welcoming. And ordering pizza is…oh so simple. Just follow the five steps!

Custom Fuel Pizza is a nice addition to Harlem’s restaurant row. Go check the place out yourself and let us know what you think!

Custom Fuel Pizza moves opening date in Harlem to February 26

I walked by Custom Fuel Pizza yesterday, the new pizza joint that will be located at 123rd and Frederick Douglass Blvd., and there was a sign posted on their door that said opening date is now scheduled for February 26. The previous date was scheduled in late January.

The sign also noted there were employment opportunities still available and to inquire within.

How many more dining places will open on Frederick Douglass Blvd in Harlem, the area between 110th and 125th Street dubbed restaurant row by HarlemGal? Well, apparently one, or two or three more Harlem businesses will open in this part of Harlem.

115 Restaurant Corp has filed a liquor license for the commercial space right across from Made En Harlem, which we’ve learned from DNAinfo will be a taqueria place. 115 Restaurant Corp will be located on the southeast corner of 115th and FDB. It’s in the building where apartments are renting for around $4k a month.

The only info we can find at the moment on 115 Restaurant Corp is the name is registered to someone who lives in Harlem. That’s all we know. As soon as we know more, we will pass along the info! And if you have any insight, feel free to chime in!

And Jeff Mays from DNAinfo reported recently that The Chipped Cup and Lenox Coffee will be expanding to Harlem’s restaurant row with The Mess Hall and Bearded Lady Espresso. These Harlem businesses will open near 118th and FDB!

So the answer is yes! More places can and are opening on FDB between 110th and 125th Street. However, it’s starting to get crowded out there!
