A look inside Savann in Harlem, restaurant opens today

I had the opportunity to taste the cuisine over the weekend at Harlem’s new restaurant, Savann located at 122nd and Frederick Douglass Blvd. I highly recommend this place! The food was very good and the dining area is quite lovely! I tried the Shepard’s Salad, Pan Fried Cheese Rolls, Crab Cakes and Salmon. These items were served buffet style since Savann was entertaining guests, but I was told all these items will be on the menu and more.

While I was there I took a few photos! But you can stop by yourself today June 17 and see for yourself Harlem’s newest restaurant on restaurant row, Savann Turkish Restaurant.

Silvana Harlem begins soft launch June 20, Israeli restaurant to open to public days later

Did you see the nice article about Silvana Harlem in the Village Voice yesterday? It had plenty of good details, like where the name Silvana comes from and whose running the kitchen, etc. The article also confirms what this blog’s known all along, Silvana Harlem at 116th Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd is opening soon.

HarlemGal Inc now has confirmation from the owners of Silvana, who also own The Shrine and Yatenga French Bistro in Harlem, that Silvana Harlem will be starting their soft launch this coming Thursday, June 20 and as always, its by invite only. Then a few days later, like that Monday, they will open to the public.

Can’t wait to check this place out. This blogger enjoys both The Shrine and eating at Yatenga. The Ouedraogo’s know quality and service in the restaurant business. I am confident they will deliver the same level of good food and service as they have done in the past in Harlem. Congrats to them and their beautiful family on their expansion efforts in Harlem.

UPDATE: Silvana Harlem plans to have their opening night for the public Friday, June 21st and we will be open the next day on Saturday at 4 pm for dinner down stairs!

Savann Turkish Restaurant to open June 17, new Harlem restaurant is at 2280 Frederick Douglass Blvd

At the end of 2012, HarlemGal Inc first told you about a new Turkish restaurant coming to Harlem called Savann at 2280 Frederick Douglass Blvd between 122nd and 123rd Street. A reader, who is a very reliable source, has given us the heads up, along with photos to prove that Savann will be opening this Monday, June 17 to the public. Savann is holding a soft launch over the weekend, we hear for the residents of 2280 FDB, however as usual, one has to be invited to attend.

After this weekend, Harlemites will have another new restaurant to check out. Stop by Savann Turkish Restaurant in Harlem starting June 17. Take a look at the menu below!

Is Silvana Harlem opening soon?

HarlemGal Inc has not received confirmation from the owners…yet on when Silvana in Harlem, the new Israeli restaurant, will open. However, we are guessing Silvana’s opening day might possibly be near. A reader recently left message on this blog announcing that Uptown Poetry Nights will happen on July 3 at the “all new Silvana Lounge” on 116th Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd. If that is in fact true that a poetry event is being held on July 3 at Silvana, wouldn’t the entire venue be open by then or would they just open part of the restaurant for this event? Our guess, Silvana in Harlem will be opening up very soon. Why would one start to promote events unless they knew when they were opening? Stay tuned…

Harlem Yo! coming to Frederick Douglass Blvd, frozen yogurt, smoothies, shakes to be offered

I was walking along Frederick Douglass Blvd in Harlem this evening (May 10) and noticed new signage was up where the old Posh Paws was located, 2121 FDB. The purplish awning says HarlemYo!, Frozen Yogurt, Burritos, Smoothies, Shakes and Salads. Looks like Harlem’s restaurant row is getting another food/eating out option?

Harlem’s Les Ambassades renovation halfway complete, Frederick Douglass Blvd location opens redesigned cafe

20130501-081324.jpg
I’m sure most of us have noticed by now that Harlem’s Les Ambassades on Frederick Douglass Blvd, aka Patisserie Des Ambassades, is in the midst of redesigning the place. You see it when you walk by.

In order to redesign and still stay open, Les Ambassades had to create new space for their breads and pastries first, which they did right next door at 2200 Frederick Douglass Blvd between 118th and 119th Street. They have recently opened this part of their new construction and the place looks great!

The new shop now has giant sign boards up displaying all of their products. Their pastries sit in new glass counters and the bread is very visible along the back walls for customers to just point at and buy.

Take a look for yourself! Stop on by and see how Les Ambassades is changing things up at their FDB location.
