This coming Sunday, June 16, it’s NYC KidsFest in Harlem! Festivities start at noon and go on until 5 pm in Morningside Park. Enter at 113th Street and Manhattan Avenue. View complete line up here.

NYC KidsFest is entering it’s 8th year as Harlem’s most exciting multi-cultural arts festival produced especially for families with young children. The day is filled with engaging and innovative entertainment, such as great face-painters and art activities.

Spanish Harlem featured in NY Times, El Barrio starts above E. 96th St., divide becoming less visible

For those who have wondered where East Harlem/Spanish Harlem/El Barrio begins, today The New York Times confirms for us once again that it begins right above East 96th Street. And according to The Times, the  old divide between the Upper Eastside and Spanish Harlem is becoming “less visible.” To read the latest Times article on East Harlem, go here.

375147_10151637960956830_782649222_nWonderful things are always happening with our Harlem neighbor to the East. Today, La Casa Azul Bookstore turns one. They are celebrating their one year anniversary from noon to 6 pm. La Casa Azul Bookstore is located at 143 E. 103rd Street.

Last year, East Harlem held their first Harvest Festival, ie East Harlem Harvest Festival, which was a big success. Read coverage here. And we hear they are planning another event for this year!

And Urban Garden Center, which has been a leader in getting events organized in their community, recently announced that Spanish Harlem will now be having their very own flea market called Flea Marqueta starting this June.

So whenever you get a chance, head East in Harlem and check out their events. I promise you will experience a wider view on why the greater Harlem area is an awesome place to live.

Learn how to teach yoga to kids, teacher training available in Harlem

Interested in learning how to teach yoga poses, games, songs, concentration and philosophy to kids ages 2-12 years? If so, there is an opportunity coming up in Harlem starting June 14. Land Yoga in Harlem will conduct classes on how to pass on this ancient Indian tradition to kids. Student teachers will learn how to create captivating lessons that can be applied for kids at private functions, schools, studios, condos communities and groups of all sizes. Once the training is completed, there are potential job opportunities after for graduates at Land Yoga.

Peartree Preschool in Harlem now accepting applications for Summer/Fall Program

Peartree Preschool in Harlem, which opened this year on West 112th, recently announced that they are accepting applications for its Summer and Fall Program for 2-5 year olds. They are offering full week options or two or three-day options.

Monthly tuition can range from around $1700 for five days or as low as $1000 for the two-day option. Interested parents can apply online at the Peartree website.

Go back in time with Street Games 2013 in Spanish Harlem

Street Games, which brings back the classic games and sports from the ’60s and ’70s and introduces them to a new generation, takes place this Saturday, April 27 in East Harlem.

Stickball, pogo sticks, hula hoops, double-dutch, yo-yos, and skateboarding clinics will be available at 114th Street and Pleasant Avenue. Street Games will also feature the Red Bulls Skills Challenge – Interactive Activities from the New York Red Bulls – on the soccer fields at Thomas Jefferson Park!

Radio Disney will be spinning music all day and there will be live music and entertainment, including several performances by the Dance Theater of Harlem! See details below!

Things to do with kids in Harlem: Film in Action at Maysles Institute

Know any 7-11 year olds that love movies? Then you may want to tell them about Film in Action created by Harlem’s Maysles Institute. Film In Action is an eight-week film club program for children to begin thinking critically about what they watch, and to have fun and develop an appetite for something other than the usual. Harlem Earth Day continues, Active Living events April 7 in Morningside Park

There is a full day of fun activities planned April 7 for the whole family in Harlem’s Morningside Park thanks to the many organization who have planned pondHarlem Earth Day activities in April, such as Harlem Park to Park and more! Tomorrow’s Harlem Earth Day activities will be centered around the pond near 113th Street and Manhattan Ave.

Harlem’s Land Yoga to host open house for Chloe the Yogi April 14

Harlem parents looking for “things to do with your kid in Harlem,” here is another option for consideration. Land Yoga is hosting an open house for Chloe the Yogi, a Harlem based children’s yoga company providing yoga programs, e-book technology products and original kid’s music to young people in the New York and DC areas. The open house is schedule for Sunday, April 14th. It is free and will feature free yoga classes, robotics, tutoring information and healthy snacks. Registration is required. See details below

High tech egg decorating at Breadbox Studio in Harlem March 30

According to Our Uptown Family, Breadbox Studio in Harlem is having a FREE BYOE (bring your own eggs) high-tech egg-decorating event for kids this Saturday, March 30, from 10 am to 3 pm.

Toy inventor (and father of two boys, ages 6 and 2 ) Joe Masibay will be using his EGGBOT machine to draw amazing designs on eggs. He’ll also have his 3D printers churning out some cute little bunny toys. Sounds like a fun time for kids and parents. See all the details below:

The Easter Bunny is coming to Harlem, EmblemHealth offering photos
