On Thursday, November 21, from 10am-9:30pm the 125th Street Business Improvement District will kick off the holiday shopping season with its Harlem Holiday Lights 2013 celebration. This year the event will include an outdoor festival, in-store and on- the-street activities as well as a scavenger hunt and parade of lights. This FREE event, open to the public, will celebrate two significant milestones– 20-years of BID operations and the 200th anniversary of 125th Street being placed on the Great Manhattan Street Grid.
Throughout the day and evening there will be promotions from businesses on 1-2-5 that include free food samples and refreshments, in-store discounts, raffles, hand massages, a Casino Party, photos with Santa, toy and coat drives, financial literacy seminars, free checking check-up with gift, free green dot cards (activated), free admission to museum gallery, and more. ABC broadcast journalist, Sandra Bookman is Grand Marshall for the momentous parade. A map of all the activities and a list of activities appear on the website www.harlemlightitup.com.
