Should West Harlem receive ferry service from NJ to NYC? District 7 Councilmember Mark Levine says Yes!
I commute to New Jersey from Harlem practically every day for the day job. When I saw the article titled, “Don’t overlook West Harlem for ferry service,” it caught my attention! Why? Because if I could get to NJ and back without having to trek all the way downtown, I’m so for it. It would probably shave off minutes to my commute and we all know minutes make a difference in commuting. Like most New Yorkers, I need and want to get home quick to my Harlem baby. (And no, I’m not buying a car to accomplish this or changing jobs!)
What do you think? Should West Harlem receive ferry service? Read the full article here.

Gazillionaire father to actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus donates art collection to Harlem non-profit
An interview with TV news show 60 Minutes can either help or hurt you depending on how it goes. For the famous Harlem Children’s Zone, sitting down with 60 Minutes has paid off in a big way! Artnet.com reports that William Louis-Dreyfus, the billionaire businessman, art collector and father to actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is donating his art collection to the Harlem Children’s Zone. Louis-Dreyfus has a collection estimated to be worth between $10 million and $50 million.
Louis-Dreyfus told a business publication that “he made the decision to donate the proceeds from his collection to the Harlem Children’s Zone after watching a segment about the non-profit on 60 Minutes.”
The Harlem Children’s Zone is a non‑profit organization for poverty‑stricken children and families.

Guess which Harlem brownstone landed the front cover of Architectural Digest for March?
Building up to the Oscars, Neil Patrick Harris is leaving no PR stone unturned. Harris’ wants to remind everyone, including the architectural community, that he’s hosting the Oscars February 22. His Oscar publicity push now includes his (and his partners’) Harlem home being featured in the March edition of Architectural Digest.
If you wanna see a million dollar renovation of a Harlem brownstone, go buy the March edition of AD. I did and let me be the first blogger to say, the place looks fabulous!
Harlem’s Neil Patrick Harris Promo For New Show

Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the 2015 Oscars, so of course commercials of him have been all over TV — but his latest promo has nothing to do with him handing out those golden trophies to big-time movie stars.
Harris’ newest project is set to be his own NBC variety show, and he gives us a tiny peek in his new ad.
The clip shows Harris, 41, getting ready to perform a big number on a time crunch with lots of dancers behind him.
“I only have 15 second to tell you about my new really big show,” the actor explains. “So I thought instead, why don’t I perform a thrilling number to give you a glimpse of what’s coming. Let’s do it!”
Right before the number begins, someone off stage yells “we’re out of time Neil,” and the commercial ends.
Although the clip doesn’t say too much about his new show, it has been reported that the series will be based on the UK series “Saturday Night Takeaway,” which means musical numbers, comedy sketches, celebrity pranks and A-list guests.

Is Harlem Skin Clinic moving into former ModSquad space on FDB?
Happy New Year Harlem! Hope everyone had a fabulous holiday!
We are back in Harlem after two weeks away and we noticed some activity outside the commercial space where ModSquad, the bicycle shop, use to be, which was on Frederick Douglass Blvd between 114th and 115th Street. We asked the folks standing outside whose moving in? We were told Harlem Skin Clinic. This business has been house inside Land Yoga space since the Ashantga center opened more than two years ago. Looks like they are branching out and getting their own space. Good for them and continued success!
Adorable hat store opens on 116th Street in Harlem, Shatzi Life offering holiday discount
First it was restaurants opening in Central Harlem. Then coffee shops followed. The next trend seems to be hat stores! A new hat store recently opened at 139 West 116th Street in Harlem called Shatzi Life. They sell everything from hard hats to scarves and gloves to snowboarding hats for adults and kids. It is a very cute place! I bought a cute reindeer hat for my daughter and a Coal hat for me. Coal hats are made in Seattle, WA!
If you need a unique gift for someone, this boutique hat store is a nice option to consider for shopping! Here is their website as well!
Happy Holidays Harlem!
