Harlem Harvest Festival 2011 turned into a Samba Festival

Yesterday’s second annual Harlem Harvest Festival was a complete success filled with plenty of locals and lots of great vendors to visit and shop at! If you missed it, you missed something special-especially watching a mass of Harlemites learn to samba. That part of the agenda was a HOME RUN! The entire day at the Festival was just beautiful-in my view. Didn’t attend? No worries. The event was covered by NY1, click here to see the video or you can view photos of the Harlem Harvest Festival here! Have a great day Harlem!

It’s $20.11 in Harlem

By HarlemGal
Several Harlemites have $20.11 posted on their Facebook or WeHarlem pages and it’s not a reminder of the current year.  It’s locals reminding us through social networks that it is restaurant and retail month right here in Harlem. From April 15 to May 15, select local businesses are offering special deals. If you’re wondering who is participating, see the complete list below.

Last year, I went to Chez Lucienne and enjoyed the meal and deal very much. I wonder where I should dine this year for this occasion?

And a big thanks to Harlem Park to Park, who is once again leading this effort to promote all the wonderful retail businesses we have right here in Harlem.

By HarlemGal

Have no clue how to celebrate Oktoberfest in Harlem?  Look to Harlem Park to Park to assist. They offer plenty of options starting tomorrow (October 1)! Harlem Park to Park Initiative is a merchants association formed in 2009 to encourage and sustain commerce throughout the upper part of Manhattan, known as Harlem.

From October 1 to October 31 it is Restaurant and Retail Month where participating restaurants will offer three course prix fixe menus. Local shops that are participating in Oktoberfest in Harlem will offer select retail items for $20.10. Harlem Park to Park is co-hosting the Harlem Harvest Festival October 9 at St. Nicholas Avenue and 116th Street. And on October 28th end the fest with a Harlem Restaurant and Bar Crawl along 8th Avenue, i.e. Frederick Douglass Blvd.

So there are plenty of options to celebrate Oktoberfest in Harlem. I definitely plan to partake in one or more of these events. Hope to see you around!
