The Park 112 in Harlem, formerly known as The Park Wine Bar, hopes to open in August

819217_535318213179114_90298200_o

The  owner of the upcoming The Park 112 in Harlem, prior name is The Park Wine Bar, recently spoke with HarlemGal Inc about their plans to open one of the first full service wine bars on Harlem’s restaurant row, aka Frederick Douglass Blvd. Lewis Tucker says they are planing to open The Park 112, which will be located on FDB between 112th and 113th Street, the second week of August, if all goes well with permits, etc from the City.

What will The Park 112 be like in comparison to what’s currently being offered in Harlem? When asked who is his competition, Tucker politely says “don’t compare me to another establishment. All of us have something to offer.” “The Park 112 in Harlem will be upscale,” says Tucker. “If Harlemites like places, such as Stanton Social, Asia de Cuba or the Supper Club from downtown, then that’s what The Park 112 in Harlem will offer in terms of food, service and ambiance.”

248055_570421293002139_671156230_nThe Park 112 will be offering American Fusion cuisine in small plates, along with a select group of large entree’s. Wines will be offered from all over the world. And a full cocktail menu will be available as well.

The Park 112 will be Tucker’s first establishment to open ever. He’s from The Bronx. However, he chose Harlem for the obvious reason, it is happening in Harlem right now. And based on his well-connected background, which he shared, he will have no problem drawing in a crowd at The Park 112 in Harlem.

Seasoned Vegan owners provide another update, construction now underway

We have another update on Seasoned Vegan, the meatless restaurant opening up in Harlem on St. Nicholas Avenue and 113th Street. The owners sent out another update via Kickstarter yesterday!

Looks like construction is starting this month, which means opening day is at least one to two months away. A grand opening block party is planned, which will be a lot of fun. Overall, the good news to focus on is that Seasoned Vegan is moving forward and Central Harlem will soon have a full service vegan dining option soon. Check out the complete update below.

On a separate note, look out for an update on The Park Wine Bar, now called The Park 112, on FDB and 113th Street. HarlemGal Inc has the lowdown! Stay tuned!

See Brecht in the Park in July at Central Park North’s Great Hill near Harlem

Brechtpostcardfadefront
To shake up the usual outdoor theatre fare offered in NYC, Elephant Run District is presenting Brecht in the Park for the month of July in Central Park North. Brecht in the Park is three short plays, which will include The Elephant Calf (1926), In Search of Justice (1938) and The Exception and the Rule (1929). Each of the three short plays is connected by the motif of a courtroom drama, where society’s rules are examined and one is judged based on those rules.

Performances are Saturdays and Sundays starting July 6 to the 28th at 4 p.m. (no-show July 13) near the southeast corner of the Great Hill in Central Park. Admission is free to all performances. Donations will gladly be accepted. Take the subway C, 2 or 3 trains to 110 Street.

The organization is partnering with bier international in Harlem at 113 Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd. Bier’s chef is creating special pre- and post-show menu items to serve at the restaurant.

Harlem Tavern, the two-year old restaurant and bar at 116th Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd., is ready to take their business model uptown to the Heights! It’s been well-publicized. Yesterday, Harlem Tavern unveiled on their Harlem-focused Facebook page a photo showing signage for their second uptown location called Heights Tavern, which will be at Broadway and 164th Street.

It was also announced on their page that Heights Tavern will be having “an open call this Wednesday-Friday (June 26-28) from 1-4 pm” at this new location.

Congratulations to Harlem Tavern owners, Gareth Fagan and Stephen and Sheri Daly, on their expansion. Clearly, the Harlem Tavern business model has returned a big ROI proving uptown Manhattan is the place to be!

Silvana Harlem begins soft launch June 20, Israeli restaurant to open to public days later

Did you see the nice article about Silvana Harlem in the Village Voice yesterday? It had plenty of good details, like where the name Silvana comes from and whose running the kitchen, etc. The article also confirms what this blog’s known all along, Silvana Harlem at 116th Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd is opening soon.

HarlemGal Inc now has confirmation from the owners of Silvana, who also own The Shrine and Yatenga French Bistro in Harlem, that Silvana Harlem will be starting their soft launch this coming Thursday, June 20 and as always, its by invite only. Then a few days later, like that Monday, they will open to the public.

Can’t wait to check this place out. This blogger enjoys both The Shrine and eating at Yatenga. The Ouedraogo’s know quality and service in the restaurant business. I am confident they will deliver the same level of good food and service as they have done in the past in Harlem. Congrats to them and their beautiful family on their expansion efforts in Harlem.

UPDATE: Silvana Harlem plans to have their opening night for the public Friday, June 21st and we will be open the next day on Saturday at 4 pm for dinner down stairs!

A reader, who is a very reliable source, has given us the heads up, along with photos to prove that Savann will be opening this Monday, June 17 to the public. Savann is holding a soft launch over the weekend, we hear for the residents of 2280 FDB, however as usual, one has to be invited to attend.

After this weekend, Harlemites will have another new restaurant to check out. Stop by Savann Turkish Restaurant in Harlem starting June 17. Take a look at the menu below!

Is Silvana Harlem opening soon?

HarlemGal Inc has not received confirmation from the owners…yet on when Silvana in Harlem, the new Israeli restaurant, will open. However, we are guessing Silvana’s opening day might possibly be near. A reader recently left message on this blog announcing that Uptown Poetry Nights will happen on July 3 at the “all new Silvana Lounge” on 116th Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd. If that is in fact true that a poetry event is being held on July 3 at Silvana, wouldn’t the entire venue be open by then or would they just open part of the restaurant for this event? Our guess, Silvana in Harlem will be opening up very soon. Why would one start to promote events unless they knew when they were opening? Stay tuned…
