A reader on Facebook dropped us a line over the weekend saying that the old Harlem Vintage wine store that was located on 121st and Frederick Douglass Blvd will continue as a wine store, but with a new name–Vintage Harlem. The word is the owners of the new Vintage Harlem plan to open up the new wine store very soon.
This is good news. Now this part of Harlem will continue to have two wine stores, The Winery and Vintage Harlem!

A group of Harlemites, who live near the Frederick Douglass Circle in Harlem, have formed a community organization called Friends of Frederick Douglass Circle. The Friends of Frederick Douglass Circle aim “to beautify this particular area of Harlem and bring events to the circle.”
This organization is having a pubic meeting April 23 at 301 Cathedral Parkway and we are all invited to attend. See details below if interested in participating.

Know any 7-11 year olds that love movies? Then you may want to tell them about Film in Action created by Harlem’s Maysles Institute. Film In Action is an eight-week film club program for children to begin thinking critically about what they watch, and to have fun and develop an appetite for something other than the usual. One of our followers on Instagram, aka @mssherryjoe, tips us off to a new Harlem restaurant and bar opening at 2331 12th Avenue at West 133rd. It’s called 9A NYC Kitchen & Lounge. Their website is up with a few pictures and on their Instagram page it says “great food, great drinks, and great people!

Harlem Earth Day activities in April, such as Harlem Park to Park and more! Tomorrow’s Harlem Earth Day activities will be centered around the pond near 113th Street and Manhattan Ave.

A long time reader of this blog captured the first photo of signage for Silvana, the Harlem restaurant that will be located on 116th Street and FDB, and sent it in to HarlemGal Inc for all of us to view. A big thank you to the reader!
As HarlemGal first told you, Silvana is a restaurant that the owners of Yatenga French Bistro will be opening soon. The first floor of Silvana will be a cafe and boutique. The Harlem restaurant will sell local, domestic and international home decor, accessories gifts and more. Wine and beer will be served as well. The restaurant and bar will actually be located in the lower level and will have acoustic live music. Silvana will serve Israeli food, such as shawarma, falafel and other vegetarian dishes.

Destiny Sandwich & Juice Bar plans to open in Harlem on Frederick Douglass Blvd., between 116th and 117th Street, before the summer season begins. Destiny Sandwich & Juice Bar will offer affordable gourmet style sandwiches with Tom Cat bread, nothing with Boar’s Head, below the $10 range, along with fresh squeezed juices and smoothies. On their website, which is closed to the public for now, it says “all our rotisserie meats are freshly prepared, carved and served on TomCat Artisanal sandwich breads. Juice’s are made to order from the freshest seasonal produce available. And coffee beans will be supplied by KOBRICKS COFFEE Roasting Since 1920.”
