Pa-paya Seed Frozen Yogurt Cafe, a premium self-serve yogurt cafe on Harlem’s Lenox Avenue between 118th and 119th Street, is days away from opening to the public. Their timing couldn’t be better. It’s hot and humid outside. Who wouldn’t want a yummy, cold yogurt treat to please the taste buds while navigating through this heat? I know I want some!

Pa-paya Seed Frozen Yogurt Cafe Harlem is starting their soft opening tonight. So we all know the drill by now. Once a Harlem business starts their soft opening, which is generally for invited guests only, then they open to the public a few days later. Stand by. We will all be having us some frozen yogurt soon in Central Harlem! Yum!

Sign says Serengeti Teas & Spices, new business moving into old Harlem Flo space

A long time reader of HarlemGal Inc sent in a photo last night (July 12) of a new store coming to Harlem. The new store is called Serengeti Teas & Spices. It’s located at 2292 Frederick Douglass Blvd, where the old and first location of Harlem Flo use to be. Harlem Flo is still open , but down the street on FDB.

In the photo, it shows new signage, which states the name of the new Harlem business and says “specialty teas and coffees of Africa and the world.” Interesting! Looking forward to checking this place out.

And a big thanks to our reader for sending in the photo!

The Park 112 in Harlem, formerly known as The Park Wine Bar, hopes to open in August

The  owner of the upcoming The Park 112 in Harlem, prior name is The Park Wine Bar, recently spoke with HarlemGal Inc about their plans to open one of the first full service wine bars on Harlem’s restaurant row, aka Frederick Douglass Blvd. Lewis Tucker says they are planing to open The Park 112, which will be located on FDB between 112th and 113th Street, the second week of August, if all goes well with permits, etc from the City.

What will The Park 112 be like in comparison to what’s currently being offered in Harlem? When asked who is his competition, Tucker politely says “don’t compare me to another establishment. All of us have something to offer.” “The Park 112 in Harlem will be upscale,” says Tucker. “If Harlemites like places, such as Stanton Social, Asia de Cuba or the Supper Club from downtown, then that’s what The Park 112 in Harlem will offer in terms of food, service and ambiance.”

248055_570421293002139_671156230_nThe Park 112 will be offering American Fusion cuisine in small plates, along with a select group of large entree’s. Wines will be offered from all over the world. And a full cocktail menu will be available as well.

The Park 112 will be Tucker’s first establishment to open ever. He’s from The Bronx. However, he chose Harlem for the obvious reason, it is happening in Harlem right now. And based on his well-connected background, which he shared, he will have no problem drawing in a crowd at The Park 112 in Harlem.

Celebrities stop by Silvana Harlem July 4, David Schwimmer of Friends and Sahr Ngaujah of Fela!

If you were hanging out at Silvana in Harlem this past Thursday July 4, you may have seen a well-known TV star, as well as a Broadway star! According to Silvana’s Facebook page, Actor David Schwimmer, known for his TV role in Friends, and Sahr Ngaujah, known for starring in Fela! The Musical, were both hanging out at Silvana Harlem on the same night. There is no mention on Facebook if the two celebrities went together or just happened to be there on the same night. All Silvana posted was a photo of Schwimmer saying these two were present. Either way, very cool for Silvana.

If you haven’t stopped by Silvana, it’s now open for business. Stop on by. It is located on 116th Street between Frederick Douglass Blvd and Manhattan Avenue.

20130629-093619.jpg

A bit of Harlem is featured in the recent edition of Yoga Journal. A photo of Land Yoga instructor and local Harlem Gal Dana Elyse Tarasavage is in Yoga Journal for their July/August edition. Yoga Journal asks readers for their On Location segment to send in their favorite pose photos from travels around the world. Harlem Tavern, the two-year old restaurant and bar at 116th Street and Frederick Douglass Blvd., is ready to take their business model uptown to the Heights! It’s been well-publicized. Yesterday, Harlem Tavern unveiled on their Harlem-focused Facebook page a photo showing signage for their second uptown location called Heights Tavern, which will be at Broadway and 164th Street.

It was also announced on their page that Heights Tavern will be having “an open call this Wednesday-Friday (June 26-28) from 1-4 pm” at this new location.

Congratulations to Harlem Tavern owners, Gareth Fagan and Stephen and Sheri Daly, on their expansion. Clearly, the Harlem Tavern business model has returned a big ROI proving uptown Manhattan is the place to be!
